These past few weeks it felt a bit strange- making Thanksgiving foods in October, in advance of the holiday.  But I know that is how most advertisers, retailers, designers and basically anybody promoting anything operates. I remember my early days as a cashier and sales associate stocking Christmas items as early as September- it seemed wrong to me at the time, but that's just standard practice now.

For this month I tried to focus on the staples of the holiday- on what the traditional contemporary Thanksgiving table and menu generally includes. I tried to go heavier on the savory selections since I know those are the visions that most people conjure when they think of Thanksgiving. 

I had my own visions of doing a separate menu list showcasing what a colonial Thanksgiving might have looked like, but with so little time I knew it would never come to pass.  Perhaps a menu list for October 2017.


Below is the final menu for Saturday October 15th. As always, my items are sold first come first served on the 15th at 12:00 noon EST each month. I've decided that the side dishes this year will all be sold individually, a'la carte, to cater to making your own individualized meal.  Quantities that will be available are in parentheses, followed by the prices.
